Description
First public edition in the original part.
ONE OF A FEW PRINTED ON JAPAN reprinted in in-4 format and printed on 20 April 1912 in Bruges.
Inscribed and signed by the author :
"To Marcel Ray with kind regards Léon-Paul Fargue".
This collection of thirty-six poems in prose includes, with significant changes, the ten previously published on a self-publishing basis (Nancy, Royer, 1907 48 pp.). It is dedicated to Valery Larbaud, who, having paid the printing costs for Tancrède in 1911, had realised that Fargue was "the only obstacle to the publication of his poems", so much so that Fargue was so ungracious and nonchalant about correcting the proofs!
(Bibliography of the Nouvelle Revue Française editionsVigne & Boudrot)
A close friend of Valery Larbaud, with whom he corresponded extensively, Marcel Ray was also close to André Gide, Jean Paulhan and Léon-Paul Fargue.
