RARE SUITE ON CHINA IN A FIRST EDITION OF 120 VIGNETTES ON WOOD BY GRANDVILLE to illustrate Béranger's works.
This edition, illustrated solely by Grandville, was first published by H. Fournier Ainé in 1836 in three octavo volumes.
In fact, of the 120 vignettes, 20 are by Raffet, whose name does not appear on the title of the book (it will appear on a few copies of the 1837 edition).
The engravings were sold in 80 deliveries at a price of 30 cts on ordinary paper and 40 cts on China paper.
All the engravings were bound in a handsome contemporary binding in purplish half calf with a richly decorated spine.
