Description

COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL EDITIONS OF THE MOST FAMOUS WORKS BY HENRI CARTIER-BRESSON published by Verve.

In publisher's hardback, the cover of which has been specially executed by Henri Matisse, "Images à la sauvette presents 126 photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson taken during the first twenty years of his career. The preface is seen as a manifesto for photography on the spot, as is the title chosen for the American edition published at the same time, The Decisive Moment.
"The Europeans is made up of 114 photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson taken between 1950 and 1955 under the name of cartonnage d'éditeur composé especially by Joan Miro.
The two covers are lithographed by Ateliers Mourlot and the single and double-page photographs are reproduced by Draeger.

These books remain an essential reference for many photographers.

Copies well preserved, an unusual condition for these rather fragile large volumes.
