Description
HAND-WRITTEN LETTER Sainte Beuve, dated June 30, to a Duchess.
"Madam Duchess
I am infinitely flattered and honored by the scope of your letter.
I know Mr. Marcou and I appreciate his excellent book, which I have always wanted to talk about in Lepeltier: involuntary discussions have distracted me.
But Madam Duchess, I know very little about the new Minister of Education and have no special relationship with him that would allow me to discuss with him the following
of him for a communication. As yet I will one day have the honor
to meet him and in a short while I shall see on what footing I am, I shall now write to Mr. Marou who is, I believe, my neighbour, agreeing on what interests him.
...Sainte-Beuve".
