Henri de Régnier met Alphonse Daudet in the Goncourts' "attic"; he later frequented Julie Daudet's Salon, which cited him, along with Rodenbach and Jammes, as the representative of "the French poet".a host of new poets outside contemporary Parnassus" (Memories of a literary group).
A superb copy, very well established by Paul Vié in a Japanese binding using gilt embossed paper and Japanese print endpapers. One of the Goncourts' regular bookbinders, Paul Vié is frequently associated with Japanese binding.
Bound in the Bradel style by Paul Vié, full gilt embossed paper with floral decorations, smooth spine, red morocco title-piece, red edges, bookmark. Endpapers with Japanese colour prints. Cover preserved without spine. Rubbing to headpieces and corners.
