Description

ORIGINAL EDITION printed on fine laid paper.

Catalogue of theGustave Moreau exhibition in aid of works of labour and the shameful poor,  at the Galerie Georges Petit from 9 to 28 May 1906, under the presidency of the Comtesse Greffulhe.
The latter commissioned her cousin, Count Robert de Montesquiou, to write a long preface entitled Gustave Moreau, a lapidary painter.
In a letter dated 21 April 1906, she wrote to him: ". No one better than you has been able to penetrate his mysterious soul […] I get everything out of private exhibitions, and only one enthusiast gives me 80. I make a crime of those who would not want to lend because it is a question of glorifying the master the Poet and the admirable man who met in his terrestrial form. [...].
