Minuscule edition, 64 copies printeds and illustrated with 8 pen-and-ink drawings by Félicien Ropsreproduced on Chine appliqué.
The copy is stamped opposite the title with a ORIGINAL DRAWING by Henry Monnier in ink and graphite.
First published in 1859 (the first three plays appeared in the Popular Scenes), The underbelly of society were prosecuted for offences against public morality and their destruction was ordered by a judgement of the Seine Criminal Court on 12 May 1865.
