This is the second part of the war memoirs of Paul Lintier (1883-1916), who died on the field of honour. Ma Pièce, which was awarded the Prix Montyon by the Académie Française.
Long preface by Henri Béraud, Memories of Paul Lintier which "was probably Paul Lintier's only literary confidant, the only writer he knew, frequented and encouraged during his short-lived and charming stay".
After the success of the first part, the book was eagerly awaited, but received the wrath of the censors, and the publisher printed the book with the words "censored" in the body of the text.
EXAMPLE BY HENRI BÉRAUD, who copied the censored passages and had them bound into the book. :
pages 37 " Qhen I think that it was those cowards who killed him! Those cowards! Those cowards! […] I know some, and I'm sure you do too, notaries, solicitors, lawyers who have hidden away in factories... They're firing ill-calibrated shells at us... shells that blow up our rooms... they're the ones who killed them.s [...] Alas all that Francis says in his anger, all that is only too true."
and 134 "At times, I wonder if the great effort we have been making for months and months will not come to fruition; if the enormous undertaking will not come to an end, if so many dangers, so much past misery, such a heavy and painful present will not have been in vain..."
Probably the most desirable copy of this work.
