Description

ORIGINAL EDITION of this collection of 20 short stories.
Copy of the first thousand after 10 copies on Hollande.

Copy with an autograph letter signed to Rachilde about the preface he agreed to write for his next book, La Sanglante Ironie (Éditeur L. Genonceaux, 1891):

"I am writing to you, Madame, with remorse for having kept you waiting a little for my reply. But wasn't it already known to you?
Genonceaux must have read you the letter in which I said yes. Would you kindly ask me to do the same for you? So that's a double yes. [...] I could not have written properly before the end of December or January, and yet it is for January that you have assured me that the proofs of your book will be sent! [...] When I arrive, I will go and get them myself from our friend. I read your letters and want to answer them straight away. I forget them in the page I have to finish. That explains the delay. If you will excuse me, I have faith in your next work and send you, Madame, a hearty handshake. Camille Lemonnier.

20 October 90.
