This edition was preceded by the very rare original in 8 volumes published in 1844 in in-8 format by Baudry, then by the first illustrated edition in two volumes in in-8 format published by J. B. Fellens and L. P. Dufour in 1846.

A washed copy, complete with covers in an attractive pastiche binding.
