A frantic and tender heart
this tale of a big heart
and a silent tenderness
Ph. Neel
A vagabond novelist nicknamed the "Balkan Gorki" by Romain Rolland, Panaït Istrati was, like Conrad, an uprooted writer who wrote most of his work in French. Alain Dugrand recently devoted a study to him, Panaït Istrati: Vagabond, magician, irregular, writer, as part of a day on "Les Conrad français" organised by the Société Jean Malaquais.
Rare provenance.
Untrimmed. Some creasing to margins of covers and spine, rare spotting, otherwise good condition.
