SIGNED AUTOGRAPH CONSIGNMENT from Paul Eluard to Alain Trutat :

"Long live Saint-Alain!
Another opportunity
to express his affection!"
Paul."

The Trutat couple were particularly close to Paul Eluard, as the exhibition editor notes The Alain and Jacqueline Trutat collection, at the BNF: " When Nusch died suddenly at the end of November 1946, the Trutat couple spent their days and nights with the suffering poet. Jacqueline offered him her body and her tenderness. It cannot be said often enough that the few years Paul had left to live were due to the ardent friendship of this couple."
