Description

FIRST EDITION of this umpteenth erotic story by Hector France illustrated by Georges Dola.

Copy by Aristide Bruant with this autograph signed letter :

"To my dear colleague
and friend Aristide Bruant
A fond memory
Hector France
June 1902"

Rachilde gave the book a more than lukewarm reception in her review of the Mercure de France (November 1902):
"What a big volume! And how well it responds to the noblest aspirations of the mob: rape, various tortures, oppression of the blackest by the whitest, pressure of the blackest on the whitest, emancipatory tirades, great socio-rastaquouériste tralala. What's more, it's so badly written that you cringe to think that people in the street might think for a moment that Hector France is Anatole's brother."

Obviously not very common.
