Description

FIRST EDITION the first collection of poetry written by Anatole Boucher de Crèvecoeur (1828-1884), nephew of Jacques Boucher de Crèvecoeur, also known as Boucher de Perthes.

Ernest Deseille, in the aftermath of the poet's death, described him as a jack-of-all-trades, "a man of many trades".poet, musician, painter, astronomer and geologist". However, some criticised him for his eccentricities and lack of rigour. Jacques Boucher de Crèvecoeur described him as follows: "A poet has come into the family. My nephew [...] now twenty-five, with some fortune, wit and a pretty face, had found a way to make all this useless by living like an owl, first wanting to be a priest, then a Trappist, then nothing at all. [...] He has started writing verse and the other day [March 1853] a fine piece of his work appeared in the Impartial de Boulogne. Will he write another? I don't know, because perseverance is not his strong point...." (Under ten kingsvol. 6, letter MXL)
However, Anatole Boucher de Crèvecoeur published two collections, Water lilies and Other water lilies, published in 1867 by the same publisher. There was also a collective edition of his writings under the title The Peristyleby Victor Flour.
