Before their publication in volumes by Chlendowski and Pétion in 1848, Balzac published Cousin Bette in The Constitutional from 8 October to 3 December 1846, then Le Cousin Pons in issues from 18 March to 10 May 1847.
Balzac then joined The poor Parens in Scenes from Parisian LifeVolume XVII of the 1st supplementary volume of the 1842-1848 edition of The human comedy.
