Reproduction of all the menus from the "Peter's Restaurant, Passage des Princes"From 15 December 1870 to 28 January 1871, during the Siege of Paris. The winter was particularly harsh and food supplies, which were blocked at the gates by Prussian troops, quickly ran out. Cavalry horses, zoo animals, rats and stray dogs all appeared on the menus of top restaurants. These include peacock galantine, dog stew, mule stew, donkey leg and elephant schnitzel.
