In twenty years, Thérèse Le Prat photographed the actors in more than two hundred and fifty classical or modern plays, including Louis Jouvet, Alain Cuny, Maria Casarès, Gérard Philipe, Jean-Louis Barrault and Jean Vilar. Using photographic realism to make the most of the combinations offered by changes of costume, make-up and lighting, she created a highly personal body of work whose chief subject of inspiration is the mystery of the human face.
Né à Rouen, le 27 mars 1906, mort à Rouen le 30 novembre 1992. Collaborateur à l’hebdomadaire L’Illustration de 1927 à 1940, il rejoint la France Libre en 1941 et devient, à partir de 1944, chef du service photographique du Commissariat aux colonies du gouvernement provisoire de la République. A la Libération, il devient directeur des services photographiques du quotidien régional Paris‐Normandie. En 1949, il ouvre, avec son épouse, Photo Ellebé, studio professionnel situé sur la place Beauvoisine.
