His memories of his trip to the United States, A scene from the future, were published in English under the title America's Menace ; In it, he evoked a certain apprehension about the rise of capitalism that Wells would have shared; a copy of the French edition is known to exist, with a mailing to Wells. When Wells relinquished the presidency of International PEN, Duhamel fought long and hard with Jules Romains, who eventually won.

Georges Duhamel's travel memoir A scene from the futuretranslated to English under the title America's Menace, expresses anxieties about the rise of capitalism that H. G. Wells would have shared; a copy of the French edition was presented to him. After H. G. Wells retired as president of the international PEN club, Duhamel lost a bitter fight for his position to French author Jules Romains.

Publishers' blue cloth binding, gilt title on the spine. Embossed frame on the upper board. Joints split towards the head of the spine. Ends of the spine, corners and board edges rubbed.
