At the age of 18, Louis Farigoule became Jules Romains by publishing the first collection of poetry, Unanimes. The following year, he published the manifesto of unanimism in the review The Thinker in April 1905, which paved the way for the L'Abbaye group.

"A vigorous poet of  life and people", At the time, Marcel Roland (1879-1955) had only published a collection of poems with Ollendorff, Insomnia (1901). In 1907 he published Le Presqu'homme,  the first part of his futuristic trilogy Future Time novelswhich he closed six years later with Anthar's Conquest, Excelsior prize in 1913.
