AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED TO HECTOR BERLIOZ
"My dear Hector
I warmly recommend the young Léon Reynier, a violinist who was awarded the 1er prize from the Conservatoire and who has just given a very successful concert. Please garland him carefully in one of your music columns, I would be very grateful.
All yours from heart and pen Théophile Gautier".
Violinist Léon Reynier (1833-1895) won first prize at the Paris Conservatoire in 1848. Théophile Gautier wrote a glowing article about him in La Presse of 11 April 1853 and tried to convince Berlioz to do the same as music critic of the Journal des Débats which he from 1834 to 1863.
A BEAUTIFUL MEETING OF TWO FIGURES OF ROMANTICISM.
In a modern half-chagrin folder.
