A very fine copy, luxuriously bound in long-grained red morocco.

Ex-libris "Jean Stern", from the library of the actress Sophie Croizette (1847-1901) and her husband, the banker Jacques Stern (1839-1902).
Ex libris engraved with the initials "JJS" and the motto "nisi credideritis non intelligetis".

Bound in contemporary style. Long-grained red morocco, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fillets, gilt title, gold framing on covers, double gold fillet on edges, inner gold roulette, gilt edges. Dark stain on p. 23 vol. 2, angular paper loss affecting a letter on p. 122 of vol. 7; freckles, more present in book 20 of vol. 9.
