One of the first 7 copies on Madagascar followed by 14 copies on vélin d'arches, 56 copies on pur fil lafuma and 240 copies on esparto.
Cocteau's article in issue 212 of La NRF (May 1931) - in which he praised the chapters he had reworked himself - was not enough to make the book a success. Tragedy a success (Béhar et. al., Jean Cocteau. The man and the mirrors. 1968. Ch. XI)
