Belgian poet, novelist, essayist and art critic André de Ridder (1888-1961) wrote over twenty books in French and Dutch. He founded the gallery Selection and edited the famous artistic review of the same name. A fervent defender of Expressionism, he championed James Ensor and Zadkine in their time.
