Description

Macbeth Posto in Musica da Giuseppe Verdi e per grata memoria dedicato al suo amatissimo suocero Antonio Barezzi Riduzione per Pianoforte seolo di E. Muzio.

FIRST EDITION FOR SOLO PIANOcomplete with a beautiful frontispiece by Focosi lithographed by Vassalli depicting the cauldron scene from Act 3 Scene I.

This abridged version, presenting the IV acts in 17 parts, has, apart from the frontispiece, many features in common with the original edition for piano and voice described by Hopkinson (46A print "a"): blue-green borders and terracotta, AL in capitals and Regist. The first three pages also appear in both editions (plates 19621). This re-use of plates suggests that this edition for solo piano was printed in the wake of the edition for piano and voice in 1847.

PRINTED BY NIÇOIS COMPOSER Charles Poppa Montano (bookplate stamp on title page), active in the second half of the 19th century, author of several plays published by Flaxland, including  The Muleteer of Portici,  The Cursed Angel!
