Housed in an elegant contemporary bindingThe collection includes: the catalogues of the 3 sales of the Quarré-Reybourbon library (5 and 6 December 1907; 18 to 23 May 1908; 3 to 8 May 1909), the catalogue of the sale of coins, medals, tokens and medals (29 and 30 April 1907, in-12° format), and the catalogue of the sale of ex-libris (with the collection of M. Danchin, 4 June 1908, in-12° format). Also included are 7 press cuttings (2 loose and 5 laminated on leaves).
In 1857, Louis François Quarré-Reybourbon took over the Van Ackère bookshop in Lille and set it up in the "Maison du Soleil d'Or" on the Grand Place. A member of several learned societies, including the Société des sciences, des lettres et des arts de Lille, the Société de géographie de Lille, the Société géologique du Nord and the Commission de la bibliothèque de Lille, Quarré published some 165 articles. On his death, he bequeathed a large part of his collections (including his collection of Lille signs) to the city's museum. His extensive library was sold at three auctions in December 1907, May 1908 and May 1909. Many works from this collection are now held in the Quarré-Reybourbon collection at the Lille library; most of them were acquired long after these sales.
The Lille booksellers, Emile and Gustave Leleu, acquired a large proportion of the lots and almost all the authors and prints from Lille.
