At the top is a short autograph letter signed addressed to Gyp, Countess of Martel, mentioning the end of the writing of Chéri (1920):
"I don't have any other papers to hand Countess, and I'm dead tired, having stayed up 14 nights to complete (that's the right word) this galopin de Chéri. All you have to do is ask for seats at the ticket office; they'll be there tomorrow evening. And then, come for lunch this Sunday, Countess, inaccessible to years, surprising, Countess. Love to you. Colette."
Good amateur binding.
Modern binding. Caramel half-chagrin with corners, spine ribbed, gilt title, cover boards preserved. Spine faded.
