{"id":9780,"date":"2021-10-14T17:57:32","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T15:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/librairie-le-pas-sage.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=9780"},"modified":"2025-12-16T12:29:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T11:29:36","slug":"revue-parisienne","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/librairie-le-pas-sage.com\/en\/shop\/balzac-honore-de\/lettres\/revue-parisienne\/","title":{"rendered":"Revue Parisienne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ORIGINAL EDITIONS and complete collection of the 3 issues published.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The costly failure of <em>The Paris Chronicle<\/em>\u00a0did not prevent Balzac from accepting, in 1839, the offer of Armand Dutacq, director of the major daily newspaper <em>Le Si\u00e8cle<\/em>to finance a small monthly magazine. \u00a0<em>La Revue parisienne<\/em>\u00a0was supposed to serve the interests of the feuilletoniste Balzac, like the journals of Alexandre Dumas and Eug\u00e8ne Sue.<br \/>\nBalzac directed and wrote almost all of <em>La Revue Parisienne<\/em>political and literary publications, including<em> Z. Marcas,<\/em> which was integrated into the S<em>scenes from political life<\/em> from <em>The Human Comedy<\/em>in August 1846.<\/p>\n<p>Some literary criticism, sometimes very acerbic (\"<em>Monsieur de Latouche has neither the art of preparing scenes, nor that of drawing characters, forming contrasts and sustaining interest.)<\/em>\u00a0also enabled Balzac to attack his natural enemy Saint-Beuve, who \"<em>has the petrifying idea of restoring the boring genre. On one point, this author deserves to be praised: he does himself justice, he goes little into the world and spreads boredom only through his pen\".<\/em>. \u00a0<em>La Revue Parisienne<\/em> will also be remembered for publishing one of the first glowing reviews of <em>The Charterhouse of Parma<\/em>\u00a0: \"<em>Monsieur Stendhal wrote a book in which the sublime bursts forth from chapter to chapter<\/em>\".<\/p>\n<p>Very low sales led to the early demise of the magazine, which ran for just three issues.<\/p>\n<p>A copy bound in the last quarter of the 19th century.<\/p>\n<p>Number 1: pages 1 to 140.
