It then left for Belfort on its way back to the Lorraine Vosges Front.<br \/>\nSeeing the misery and despair in the front line, Edith Wharton set up asylums for refugees, which housed up to 600 war orphans. Taking advantage of a network, she raised funds in the United States and opened additional homes that would become the <em>American Hostels for Refugees<\/em>.
