Jacques Rivière, editorial secretary of the NRFdedicated this first book of literary criticism to his "brother" Henri Alain-Fournier, who two years later wrote a masterpiece and the only book of its kind. Le Grand Meaulnes. After this publication, Rivière was to assist Jacques Copeau as director of the review.

Georges Duhamel took part in the Nouvelle Revue Française from 1911 to 1923, when the magazine Europe to which he became more assiduously associated.
