ONE OF THE FIRST 50 COPIES ON HOLLANDE (before 50 copies on bouffant).
The copy bears the author's autograph signature in fine.

Written in 1935, Colourless castles was not printed until August 1941 in Rodez, where the author was demobilised. After the war, Jean Rivier moved to Vallauris and joined the Vallauris potters' group alongside Pablo Picasso, Jean Marais, Jean Gerbino, Roger Capron, Robert Picault, Alexandre Kostanda, Jean Derval and Jacques Innocenti.

This second collection of prose poems by Jean Rivier is, like the first entitled Player of all tradesis a rarity.

Jean Rivier

(Tunis: 25 October 1915 - Niort: 6 January 2017)

From 1952 onwards, Jean Rivier was a member of the group of "potters of Vallauris", the Mecca of ceramics from 1930 to 1970, with Pablo Picasso, Jean Marais, Jean Gerbino, Roger Capron, Robert Picault, Alexandre Kostanda, Jean Derval and Jacques Innocenti.

In 1955, Jean Rivier took part in a travelling exhibition of pottery from the Vallauris group in about thirty American museums.

Professor of ceramics at the School of Fine Arts in Tours from 1973, Jean Rivier also devoted himself to lithography and poetry.
