Description

FIRST EDITION.
ONE OF 80 NUMBERED COPIES IN JAPON
.
Second paper, after 10 copies on old Japon, 20 copies on Chine, of the exceptional limited edition of 632 copies, after an edition of 6740 copies on various papers.

Collection of poems written since 1890, preceded by a preface in which Maurras sets out his aesthetic theories.
Dedicated to Daniel Halevy, the text also opens with a short letter of warning to the man who is also the editor of Cahiers Verts: "Dear Sir, in order to make sense of the preliminary apology that such a book cannot do without, I must tell you how so many verses of every cadence fell on you! But I beg you not to treat this memorial, pure and simple, as a justification, which, without claiming to legitimise songs, or to support in the slightest their right to life, tries to explain to you how they came about. One man's adventure may be of use to others. Will those who won't do anything about it forgive me for telling my story without measure? Help me to wish it, almost to hope it."

A fine copy in double covers reserved for the exceptional edition.
