ORIGINAL EDITION illustrated with 3 original woodcuts by Nicolas de Staël found in his studio.

ONE OF 100 NUMBERED EXEMPLIES ON AUVERGNE PAPER from the Richard-de-Bas Mill bearing the inscription signature of the author and the artist's signature.
(There are 25 copies with a double suite of engravings and 40 copies out of trade).

An exceptional copy with an additional leather print of the frontispiece engraving. with this note signed on the back:

"print on skin of a woodcut by Nicolas de Staël in l'Art qui vient à l'avant. Published by Pierre Lecuire. Paris. 1965. Piere Lecuire."

This tribute to Nicolas de Staël, ten years after his death, uses Pierre Lecuire's first text on the artist, written in 1948. The text, which disappeared before publication in Uruguay, was anonymously sent back to Paris seventeen years later.

A very fine copy, perfectly preserved.
