Ludovic Halevy "

A journalist and critic close to Hugo, Banville and Gautier, Adolphe Gaïffe (1830-1903) married Marie-Eugénie Renom, a dancer at the Opéra and goddaughter of the author of the Mummy novel. Considered one of the finest dandies of his generation, he was celebrated as such by Banville in Odelettes. He was Secretary of theArtist and the Press, then as private secretary to Félix Solar, a Parisian businessman and renowned bibliophile. Gaiffe also built up a rich collection of literary works, notably by buying Count Potocki's incomparable library.

A well-bound copy by Alfred FarezCarayon's successor in 1909, who practised until 1930.
