BEAUTIFUL SET OF TWO LARGE PHOTOGRAPHS showing Robert de Flers in theatrical costume, each with a signed dedication to Marcel Proust.

Robert de Flers was a pupil of Proust's at the Lycée Condorcet. The two friends had a youthful affair, a year before Proust met Reynaldo Hahn. Robert de Flers went on to marry Victorien Sardou's daughter Geneviève, and became one of the most prominent playwrights. He was also editor-in-chief of Figaro and published several Chronicles of Proust. Their deep friendship never wavered.

These photographs, taken from Marcel Proust's family album, were exhibited twice at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. (L’Écriture et les Arts, n° 183).
