This novel in five parts, the first part was pre-published in La Nouvelle Revue française in November 1936, stages the character of Yves Le Pesnel; using a narration is very close to the one use for Gilles, Drieu inserts a coup de théâtre in the fourth part by unveiling the true narrator.

Copy dressed in a binding signed H. Duhayon.
