The print was presented to the actor Eugène Grailly at a party organised for the actress's 30th birthday on 6 February 1844 at the Odéon theatre. It bears a signed autograph dedication :

"Given to my good friend Grailly. 
February 6, 1844 Marie Dorval.
Today my comrades from the Porte St Martin came to play me 30 ans at the Odéon - it seemed good to me!"
