RARE FIRST EDITION of this short biography of Sarah Bernhardt, one of the first to be published.

Etching portrait of Sarah Bernhard by Ingomard, in the role of the Queen of Spain, on the frontispiece.

First work by Clément Clament (1851-1825), a future member of parliament for the Dordogne, Sarah Bernhardt (1879) is also the only work published under his real name. He later signed under the pseudonym Clément Monterel: History of Ruy-Blas (1879), The mysteries of Clamart (1881), Daughters of love (1883) and a Guide du bon jeune homme à Paris illustrated by Henriot (1883).
