New edition with two previously unpublished engravings, published in 1867 under Souscription Nationale.
Translation by Chateaubriand preceded by reflections on the life and works of Milton by M. de Lamartine.

The artistic part of this volume consists of 25 magnificent original prints after drawings by Benouville, Flatters, Lemercier, Melin Richomme (of the Institut), engraved with burin on steel by Messrs. Alais, Aubert, Audibran, Bein, Caron, Darode, Geille, Gelée, Jouanin, Lacaisse, Migneret, Moret, Nyon, Pelee, Ransonnette, Saint-Eve, enriched with portraits of Milton, Chateaubriand and Lamartine, executed by Laugier, Pelée and Sixdeniers.
The printing is a credit to Mr Claye's presses.

Born in Saint-Malo on 4 September 1768 and died in Paris on 4 July 1848.
