The work, dedicated to Adolphe Brisson, opens with a letter from October 1895 explaining to him the futility of this collection of short stories and the use of a pseudonym: "When you hear that my short stories are banal and written in a mediocre style, you will carefully preserve the veil of anonymity". Our research has not lifted this veil.

Bound in the Bradel style of the period. Half red percaline, smooth spine, decorated with fillets, fleuron, gilt title, bookmark, cover preserved. Spine uniformly faded, corners rubbed.
