Preface by Guy de Maupassant, letter from the Prince de Bibesco and illustrations by most of the great names of the period, including Manet which features a portrait of Pertuiset, probably inspired by Portrait of Mr PertuisetThe Lion Hunter, painted in 1881.
Jeanniot paints a portrait of Guy de Maupassant, who was also a fine shot.
Many other portraits by Berne-Bellecour, Albert Goelzer, Kauffmann, De Liphart, Mesplès, Du Paty, F. Régamey, Rochegrosse, Saintpierre, Serizier, Stéphen Jacob...

A handsome copy, soberly bound in the taste of the period, in full black cloth with small flaps.
