Giovanni Battista Egnazio (Venice, 1473?-1553): Humanist, philologist, poet and prose writer, he was a pupil of the Political Angel and a fellow disciple of Leo X, the friend of Erasmus and of Pietro Bembo, Sabellico's opponent. Professor of eloquence in Venice (in 1520), he wrote numerous commentaries on classical works, published by Aldo Manuzio.

He is an engineer from Central France and a French industrialist, who notably participated in the construction of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Garabit Viaduct and the Statue of Liberty in New York.
